A panel made from thermally insulating material is of rectangular form with the edge surfaces (3, 5) being oblique to the plane of the panel and with the edge surfaces of opposite edges being parallel to each other. The edge surfaces of two adjacent edges (2) and (3) or (4) and (5) meet at an oblique corner (A) or (B). Panels with oblique edges of this form can be placed close to each other with the joint between the abutting surfaces being effectively sealed so that the effectiveness of the thermal insulation is increased.
