A flat storage packed for a surgical needle, with or without suture material has a rectangular base on which is laid a rectangular from whose central aperture provide access to the needle, and finally a rectangular cover strip. These three element are welded or bonded together round their edges, with exception of unloaded areas near one narrow end of the assembly, which can be lifted for initial access. The needle and/or sature may be held down in the base container by an integrally formed tag. ADVANTAGE - An adequately sterile package is cheaply produced.
