PURPOSE: To increase the frictional resistance to permit super-precise machining for non-ferrous metal or the like by dispersing 1-300 ppm boron in diamond in a tool having a working surface of single-crystal diamond. CONSTITUTION: A tool has a steel-made handle 3, and is so constructed that a single-crystal diamond 5 is soldered to one end, an inclined surface 8 agrees the diamond crystal surface, the crystal axial direction 11 is selected to [100] or [110] direction and it is extended parallel to the tool axial direction. A boron-containing single-crystal diamond is found in a small quantity in the nature, but it can be obtained by synthesis. The boron-containing single-crystal diamond has higher frictional resistance as compared with the single-crystal diamond not containing boron. The single-crystal diamond 5 is synthetic single crystal diamond, and it shows a smaller abrasion deviation range, and has 1-300 ppm boron. |
