<p>Film-forming coating composition particularly useful for coating automobile bodies including a film-forming polymer, a liquid dispersion medium and a particulate material which is particles of titanium dioxide having an average size of from 0.01 to 0.15 micron. The particles of titanium dioxide have a coating of dense amorphous silica. In its most preferred form the coating composition contains a metal or a metallic pigment such as aluminium flake. The film-forming polymer can be an acrylic resin, an alkyd resin, a polyester, a polyurethane or an aminoplast resin.</p> |
