The transporting device comprises at least one conveying element (13) which moves in a specific circuit by the sliding of one of its parts (14) in a primary guide rail (2), said conveying element being driven in its movement by means of at least one drive chain (5) comprising a driving part and a return part, the driving part being arranged at least partially along and beside said primary guide rail (2), said chain being actuated in closed circuit by motor means. Said chain (5) is a link chain, the conveying element (13) being equipped with a toothing (15) which meshes with the links of said chain (5) and which makes said chain (5) and said conveying element (13) integral with one another in terms of movement.
