PURPOSE:To enhance developed color density and sensitivity by forming a thermal recording material by providing a thermal color forming layer containing a specific nitro compound as a sensitivity enhancer along with a leuco dye and a coupler on a support. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined amount of a sensitivity enhancer represented by formula I or II (wherein X, Y and Z are respectively a lower alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom, l is an integer of 0 - 4 and (m) is an integer of 0 - 5) is compounded along with a predetermined amount of a leuco dye and a coupler together with a binder such as polyvinyl alcohol to prepare a coating solution for forming an aqueous thermal color forming layer. This coating solution is applied to a support such as fine paper and dried to provide a thermal color forming layer to obtain a thermal recording material. As a pref. example of the leuco dye, there are a triphenylmethane type dye and a fluorane type dye and, as a pref. example of the coupler, there are a phenolic compound and a thiophenolic compound. |
