PURPOSE: To locally cool a grinding wheel by arranging a cooling nozzle on one end of an arched frame so as to deliver a coolant in the tangent direction of the grinding wheel by communicating with a first guard inside passage. CONSTITUTION: A cooling nozzle 94 connected to a passage of a high pressure coolant is arranged on one end of an arched frame 64. The cooling nozzle 94 is turned in the tangent direction of a grinding wheel 66 so as to deliver the coolant to a position where the grinding wheel 66 crosses a work member. Since the direction of the coolant delivered from the cooling nozzle 94 is the same as the rotational direction of the grinding wheel 66, the coolant is delivered at the substantially same speed as the grinding wheel 66. The grinding wheel 66 is locally cooled by more reliably contacting the coolant with the grinding wheel 66 by teating off air from above the grinding wheel 66 after arranging the work member just before the coolant flowing area.
