<p>An enclosure for electrical switchgear is a box like structure made up of side panels (2, 4) front and rear panels (6 & 7) and external panels (28). The panels (2, 4 & 28) define chimneys (26) which are connected to the enclosure (14) via apertures (22, 24) at their lower ends. Thus if the gas filled circuit breaker chamber (20) explodes as a result of a fault developing, the enclosure (14) is relieved of the resulting pressure generated by the expanding gases by venting to a ventilation system via the apertures (22, 24) and the chimneys (26). <IMAGE></p> |
