An insoluble lining cement which has bacteriostatic properties, stimulates the formation of secondary dentine, forms an adhesive bond and can be used even where pulp tissue is exposed is formulated as a two-paste preparation: First paste: liquid salicylate, freeze-dried poly(acrylic acid) and zinc oxide Second paste: excess calcium hydroxide, liquid sulphonamide, freeze-dried poly(acrylic acid) and zinc oxide. The pastes are mixed and the mixture remains workable for 61/2 minutes, setting 41/4 minutes thereafter. e
