Game apparatus comprises polygonal pieces (1) having different shapes formed from a combination of, for example, at least three square shapes, a selecting device (30) and a field (11) on which the pieces are assembled. As stages of the playing field (11) are filled a field defining member (20) may be pushed forward toward an opponent player's side in accordance with the number of stages which are filled. Preferably the playing field has grooves formed thereon, and the chips (1) include members which co-operate with said grooves.
