PURPOSE:To perform denitrification with high efficiency by passing NOx- containing gas to which NH3 is added through a catalyst bed packed with Cu(II) exchange Y-type zeolite prepared by exchanging the specific percentage of the Na-ion of Na-Y type zeolite with a Cu(II) ion under a specific temp. condition. CONSTITUTION:NOX-containing gas to which ammonia is added is passed through a catalyst bed packed with Cu(II) exchange Y-type zeolite [prepared by exchanging the position of the Na-ion of Na-faujasite (mineral name) wherein a silica and alumina ratio (SiO2/AlO2 ratio) is about 5 or more is exchanged with a Cu(II)-ion], which is prepared by exchanging 60-200% of the exchangeable Na-ion of Na-Y type zeolite with a Cu(II)-ion [Na-Y type zeolite is immersed in a Cu(II)-ion solution under stirring], under a temp. condition of 300-750 deg.C. Whereupon, NOx is reacted with coexisting ammonia and oxygen to be converted to nitrogen and water. When an exchange ratio exceeds 30%, the activity peculiar to Cu(II) exchange is shown. By this method, NOx can be denitrified with high efficiency as compared with a conventional vanadium- titania type catalyst. |
