PURPOSE: To maintain or lower intraocular pressure and to effectively treat glaucoma by directly administering an effective amount of a 2-cycloalkyl (or cycloalkenyl) aminooxazoline especially to an eye of a mammal afflicted with glaucoma. CONSTITUTION: An effective amount of a compound of formula I (R1 is a 1-3C alkyl; R2 is H, a 1-5C alkyl, preferably H; (n) is 2, 3 or 4, preferably 3; (x) is 1 or 2; a hydrocarbon ring may contain a double bond at a position except theα-βpositions), especially a compound of formula II, its salt, its base or their mixture, preferably its mixture with an ophthalmologically permissible carrier, especially in a liquid state, is directly administered to a mammal, especially an eye of a mammal afflicted with glaucoma preferably by local application or by injection to lower or maintain (control) mammalian intraocular pressure. This method is especially effective for treating primary and secondary glaucoma.
