The invention relates to transformed vertebrate animals sperm cells comprising foreign DNA sequences and methods of preparing the same and to transgenic animals generated by artificial insemination with the said transformed sperm cells. The invention also relates to methods of producing proteins by genetic engineering methods, by the said transgenic animals. The invention also relates to a novel buffer solution particularly suitable for preserving sperm cells and for carrying out their transformation according to the invention. These novel buffer solution is also suitable for long-term storage of sperm cell.
