<p>PURPOSE:To provide both anaerobic and aerobic agitation functions in a simple manner in one aerating agitation device by encircling an opening provided on a rotary hollow shaft with a casing and providing a valve in a gas passage provided on the casing to interrupt air flow. CONSTITUTION:A hollow shaft 3 connected directly to a motor 2 is placed in a casing 4 and a propeller 5 for agitation is fixed to the end of said shaft. The bore of the shaft 3 has an opening 6 at an axially outermost end of the propeller 5, while an opening 7 is provided at such a position on the shaft 3 that can be kept always above water level. A valve 9 is installed in a gas passage 8 provided on a casing 4. In an aerating agitation device 1 thus prepared, when the propeller 5 is rotated with the valve 9 being open, water flow is generated in an axial direction, i.e., direction A, so that a low pressure region, i.e., negative pressure region, is created to cause air to be mixed into the water flow, and hence both agitation and aeration functions are provided. With the valve 9 being closed, the air is prevented from getting into the casing 4, so that the air is prevented from being mixed into the water flow; thereby, only agitation function is provided.</p> |
