PURPOSE:To obtain the objective ultrafine fiber suitable for artificial leather, etc., by mixing a polymer solution containing a specific amount of acrylonitrile with a polymer solution containing a specific amount of methyl methacrylate, spinning and drawing the mixed solution and removing the methyl methacrylate polymer from the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective ultrafine fiber composed of a polymer containing >=85% of acrylonitrile and having a diameter of <=2mu and an aspect ratio of >=1,000 can be produced by mixing (A) 1 pt.wt. of a solution having a viscosity of 100-2,000 poise at 50 deg.C and produced by dissolving a polymer containing >=85% of acrylonitrile in a solvent (e.g. dimethylformamide) and (B) 1-100 pts.wt. of a solution having a viscosity of 100-2,000 poise at 50 deg.C and produced by dissolving a polymer containing >=90% of methyl methacrylate in a solvent (e.g. acetone), spinning and drawing the obtained mixed solution containing the component A dispersed in the component B in the form of fine particles having a diameter of 1-100mu and dissolving and removing the methyl methacrylate polymer from the obtained drawn fiber. |
