PURPOSE:To make a press-fit contact pin suitable for a substrate having a through hole of small diameter and also enlarge the area in which dislocation displacement is possible by providing the mounting portion of the contact pin with two shell portions each extending in the longitudinal direction of the contact pin, and forming the cross sections of the two shell portions as specific configuration almost symmetrical with respect to a point. CONSTITUTION:An integrally formed contact pin 8 has upper and lower terminal portions 10, 16, and a flange 12 making contact with a conductor pat 20 on a printed board and maintaining fixed depth and a mounting portion 14 to be engaged with the inner wall of the through hole of the board are both provided between the terminal portions 10, 16. The portion 14 is separated into two shell portions 30, 40 whose cross sections are almost symmetric with respect to a point and which have respective arm portions 32, 42. When the portion 14 is inserted into the through hole the shell portions come close to each other and the radius of the portion 14 is reduced and the arm portions come into contact with the opposite shell portions and are elastically curved and the contact load of each shell portion to the inner wall of the through hole is secured corresponding to a wide range of dislocation displacement so that electrically and mechanically good contact is achieved. |
