PURPOSE: To move information between different file systems on the same computer by providing a transfer means for transferring a file from a first file format to a second file format. CONSTITUTION: A transfer system 36 transfers the content of a different type of format disk 32 to a host format disk 40. A user 38 can access to the file transferred to the disk 40 through a host operating system 44 operating in a host computer 30 or a host application program 46. When the user 38 terminates the examination or modification of the transferred file, the file in the different type of file format, which is stored in the disk 40, is converted into the file in the different type of file format and is stored in the disk 32 by the transfer system 36. Thus, the file can be transferred between the file systems which are formatted in a different form.
