PURPOSE: To improve operation speed by controlling record data transfer by means of respective elements so that consequential records are outputted from a classification means in the same order as input to the classification means. CONSTITUTION: A classification acceleration device 10 contains an input part 21, an output part 22, a classification control part 34 and a classification part 18. The classification control part 34 controls the input part 21 and successively transmits the groups of the records to the classification part 18, controls the output part 22 and stores the plural classified groups to a local work memory 16 or the work part of the memory of a host computer 11. The input part 21, the classification part 18 and the output part 22 are controlled from the classification control part 34, receive the groups of the records in the order of non-classification and store the groups of the records in a classified order. The group is merged with the group of the records, which is classified next, and the large classified group is stored. Thus, an operation is speeded up.
