PURPOSE:To prepare the title polyester resin with improved low-temp. fixing properties by reacting a monomer component contg. polyhydric alcohols or polycarboxylic acids, alicyclic and nonalicyclic diols, and arom, dicarboxylic acids, thereby giving the resin a specified acid value, softening point, etc. CONSTITUTION:A monomer component contg. tribasic or higher carboxylic acids, arom. dicarboxylic acids, alicyclic diols, and other diols are esterified and then polycondensed in the presence of Sb2O3 while removing glycols from the reaction system to give the title resin which is a nonlinear polycondensate having an acid value of 0.5-25mgKOH/g, glass transition point of 50-80 deg.C, softening point of 145 deg.C or lower, allowable range of fixing temp. of 30 deg.C or higher, and difference between the softening point and the glass transition point of 75 deg.C or lower, and comprising 1-30mol% (based on total acid units, the same applies hereunder) trihydric or higher polyhydric alcohol or tribasic or higher polycarboxylic acid units, 1-60mol% units of an alicyclic diol having at least one secondary alcoholic hydroxyl group, 40-100mol% arom. dicarboxylic acid units, and 40-99mol% nonalicyclic diol units. |
