PURPOSE:To miniaturize the whole printer and simplify the constitution of a label detection device by arranging first light projector and receiver at opposite positions to the center position in the widthwise direction of a paper and also second light projector and receiver at positions slightly offset from the center position along the widthwise direction of the paper. CONSTITUTION:First light projector 65 and second light projector 66 are installed on a first sensor holder 61 and first light projector 68 and second light receiver 69 are installed on a second sensor holder 64. The first light projector 65 and light receiver 68 are vertically opposed to each other and at the same time, these arranged at a position opposite to the center position of forms Q, S, X in the widthwise direction.
