PURPOSE:To improve the yield of a product by manufacturing a billet whose thickness is thicker and whose width is wider by the specified dimension than a finishing dimension from an ingot and forming a bulge part at the edge part of a slab with the release of a rolling reduction at the passing time of the feeding head frame part of a billet in the final pass. CONSTITUTION:A bulge part 3 is formed by thickening a feeding head frame part 2 only and widening the width as well, so the bulgy part of the bulge part 3 becomes a scarfing allowance. The bulge dimension is adequate in 5-30mm (both sides in total) in the thickness direction and about 5-30mm in the width direction. The thickness increasing part where the bulge part 3 is formed becomes a scarfing allowance. The frequency that the thickness shortage and width shortage of the feeding head frame part are generated becomes remarkably less, even in the case of performing the scarfing for removing a deep surface flaw. The product yield can thus be improved. |
