PURPOSE:To reduce the weight, to improve flexibility and foldability, and to improve the ability of holding a diver to a seat and rebound preventing ability by a method wherein an air bag is formed with a bag body in which the peripheral parts of two cloths having METSUKE (the weight of cloth g/m<2>) of a specified value are joined together to manufacture and a coating film partially formed on the surface of the bag body. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral parts of a woven cloth 2 on the surface side and a cloth 3 on the back side, having MESTSUKE of 100-300g/m<2> are sewn together by using a sewing thread 10 to form an air bag 1, and a peripheral part 9 is folded and further locked to the cloth 2 by using a sewing thread 11. A central hole 4 of the woven cloth 3 is formed as a gas generator mounting opening part, and a reinforcing cloth 13 is sewn to an outer peripheral section 8 from the back side by means of sewing threads 15 and 16. Peripheral parts 5 and 6 and the outer peripheral section 8 of the air bag are coated with chloroprene rubber for reinforcement, and production of a friction mark at this part during expansion is prevented. Rubber coating is applied in a similar manner described above at a central part 7 of the woven cloth 2. An area ratio between the central part and uncoated parts 2a and 3a is selected so that exhaust after expansion is effected in a given pressure and time relation. |
