发明名称 Avoidance of short circuits in rechargeable battery cells - having current pulses applied to break down macroscopic metal bridging
摘要 Internal short circuits generated in rechargeable battery cells due to the build up of microscopic metal bridges, are avoided by insertion of the cell into a unit that causes a high amplitude current transient to be applied. The battery is inserted in a holder that has one pair of contacts (K1,K2) followed by a second pair (K1,K3), coupled to a battery charger (LG). The coupled circuit has a capacitor (C), switch (S) and resistor (R). The capacitor is charged and then discharged to provide a pulse of a few milliseconds duration. The operation is independent of the speed of movement of the cell across the contacts. ADVANTAGE - Avoids short circuits in battery cells.
