Seal (14) for providing sealing to fluids under pressure in an electrical connector of the cylindrical type between an electric cable (10) to which this connector is connected, and the housing (1) of the said connector, this seal including a ring (17) made from elastomer or a similar material which can expand radially to be applied in a leaktight fashion against the cable (10) and the housing (1) of the connector when it is elastically compressed, characterised in that it furthermore includes two annular flanges (plates) (18) made from a rigid material and secured to the sealing ring and respectively overlapping almost all the two end surfaces of the sealing ring, and in that the said seal (14) includes a longitudinal slit extending diagonally with respect to the axis (20) of the seal. <IMAGE>
