PURPOSE:To select a large quantity of objects automatically, speedily, and exactly by processing the reflected wave of an ultrasonic wave from an object to be measured by using an AR model (autoregressive model) and comparing a featuring signal based upon the difference of the surface state of an object to be selected with a sample signal. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic sensor 1 sends an ultrasonic wave to, for example, a shellfish which is carried by a belt conveyor 5 and receives the reflected wave from the surface of the shell. Then the reflected wave received by the ultrasonic sensor 1 is converted by an A/D converter 2 into digital data, which is sent to a computer 3. The computer 3 processes the digital data by using the AR model to extract the signal featuring the object to be selected. The featuring signal based upon the difference of the surface state of the object to be selected is compared with the sample signal which is measured in advance to discriminate between, for example, a fresh-water mussed 6 and a scallop 7, and a kicker (vacuum cleaner) is put in operation to remove the edible cockle 6. |
