PURPOSE:To improve the safety by providing a conduit which is projected in the emission direction of a linear polarized light component emitted by a polarizing prism, and a light absorber which absorbs the linear polarized light component at a terminal of the conduit. CONSTITUTION:The polarizing prism holding device 12 holds a Glan-Tailor prism 1 made of, for example, calcite and is equipped with the conduit 5 which is projected in the emission direction of the linear polarized light 4 emitted by the Glan-Tailor prism 1 and the light absorber 6 which has properly set length and is attached to the terminal of the conduit 5. Then when the linear polarized light component 4 which crosses linear polarized light is prevented from being emitted out of the polarizing prism holding device 12, the light absorber 6 is installed at a properly set distance from the Glan-Tailor prism 1, so even if an unnecessary linear polarized light component is not absorbed completely by the light absorber 6 to cause reflection or light emission, the light is divergent and reducible in the conduit. Consequently, the contamination and breakage of the polarizing prism surface due to the light absorption of the light absorber 6 can be reduced. |
