<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently execute desulfurizing refining to molten steel by making a hollow electrode of an arc electrode for heating the molten steel with arc and blowing inert gas through the hollow electrode on slag above the molten steel to accelerate stirring. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 1 charged in a ladle refining furnace 4 is heated with arc from the electrodes 5. At the same time, the inert gas 3A of Ar, etc., is blown from a porous plug 6 at the bottom part of the furnace 4. By this method, the molten steel 1 is stirred and contact of the molten steel 1 and slag 2 for refining is accelerated to execute the desulfurization. For the above slag 2 for refining, it is desirable to use the raw material having composition of 40-60wt.% CaO, 15-30% SiO2, 5-15% Al2O3 and 5-15% CaF2. In the above desulfurizing method for molten steel, at least one piece among the above electrodes 5 is made to the hollow electrode 5A, and the inert gas 3B through this is blown on the slag 2 to accelerate the stirring. By this method, refining time of the desulfurization is shortened and the productivity is improved and various unit consumptions can be reduced.</p> |
