PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of aligning optical axes of semiconductor laser and a light wavelength converting element by superposing the semiconductor laser with an optical wave guide type light wavelength element in a direction where each layer is laminated and moving the laser beam emitted by the semiconductor laser in the optical wave guide to the light wavelength converting element by a mode connection. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam 15 being shut in resonators 10a and 10b for the semiconductor laser is moved in the optical wave guide 13 of the light wavelength converting element by the mode connection between the optical wave guide 12 of the semiconductor laser and the optical wave guide 13 of the light wavelength converting element. The wavelength of the laser beam which can be guided through the optical wave guide 13 of the light wavelength converting element is converted to, for example, a 2nd higher harmonics, etc., by a non-linear optical material constituting the light guide 13 or substrates 11a - 11c. Thus, the need of aligning the optical axes of the semiconductor laser and the light wavelength converting element can be eliminated, and also the laser beam reflected on the end surface of the light wavelength converting element is made incident on the semiconductor laser as a return light beam, so that the occurrence of noises can be prevented. |
