PURPOSE:To allow even the thermal spraying of a material which is hardly workable to a wire or foil by substituting the solid to be impressed with a large current with a melt. CONSTITUTION:The thermal spraying material, for example, Al alloy 9 is packed into a container made of a material having the electrical conductivity lower than the electrical conductivity of the thermal spraying material, for example, a graphite heater 6 in common use as a boat. An electrode 7 is then energized via an electrode connector 8 to heat the container 6 and the thermal spraying material 9 in the container 6 is melted by the heat transfer thereof. The current impressed to the container flows in the molten thermal spraying material 9 having the higher electrical conductivity than the electrical conductivity in the container 6 of the low electrical conductivity when the thermal spraying material 9 melts and comes into tight contact with the container 6. The thermal spraying material discharges and explodes when the large current is impressed to the material in this state. The surface of a work 10 is then coated by thermal spraying. |
