A cover element (10) is used to protect elements of a switch unit (11) of the type used on road vehicles. The switch has a main housing with a projecting pin (12) axially displaced to operate the switch. The housing is shaped (14) with a recess that provides a locator for the protective cover (15). The cover is produced as an integral moulding in an elastomer material. A lower section is circular (22) and locates in the body groove. The top section is in the form of a bellows (15) that allows axial movement to take place. USE/ADVANTAGE - Protects against external fluids and contaminants as can be encountered by a high lift door switch in motor vehicle operating courtesy light.
