Linear irrigation channel consists of a hose with periodical outlets, surrounded by loose tufts, or a web of rotproof textile material, held in place by an outer elastic net. Pref. a plastic tube (1) of 15 mm outside dia., has 10 mm bore, and 1.5 mm holes at 400 mm distance along the length (6). The surrounding five layers (2) is made up of 150 mm wide porous web, having a density of 80 gms per sq. metre. This is enclosed in a net (4) having 65 loops per metre made of 200 tex polymer. The porous web of textile material may be a byprod. from other processes, and may be reinforced near the exterior with a compression resisting material, when buried deeply. USE - The channel is buried to give water at root level, and supplies water economically without disturbing the surface soil.
