Withdrawal device removes work from the roller hearth for transfer and immersing in a quenching bath. A work support (12') base should consist of transverse, spaced and parallel bars (58-61) with free rotating rollers between (50) in the spacing provided. A holding and transport device lowers the support base (12) between the rollers so that the base lies at a level (66) below that (68) of the rollers, keeping the base flat for work transfer into the quenching bath. Pref. the bars have top end tips (63) and are joined at their bottom end to one side of the work support (12'). USE/ADVANTAGE - Heat treatment of metals. Work loaded into quenching bath in quick time for maximum hardening effect and without roll-table involvement.
