The said article, solid or hollow, comprises a core 1 and an outer sheath 2 which surrounds at least once the said core and firmly adheres thereto. The process consists: in conforming at least one strip of flexible material around a stationary hollow element 20 to form the sheath 2; in continuously driving the sheath 2 thus formed towards the end of the stationary hollow element; and in continuously dispensing from a tank 25, 27, where it is fluid or pasty, the material forming the core 1 into the stationary hollow element, from one end of the latter towards the said free end, in order that, on exiting the hollow element, the said material is received into the mould which the sheath 2 constitutes and spreads out therein on cooling and on adhering to the sheath on exiting the hollow element. The composite article obtained is applicable in the packaging, civil engineering, agricultural and insulation industries.
