PURPOSE:To reduce the number of the transmission of halftone recording data and to perform a halftone recording at high speed by a method wherein time information for driving recording elements is inputted on the basis of multivalued recording data, the time information is compared with the multivalued recording data, and the drive of a corresponding recording element is stopped when the results are coincident. CONSTITUTION:When a signal CLK is outputted correspondingly to the number of heating elements of a thermal head, a line of data is set in memory elements. When a latch signal LATCH is outputted from a counter 453, the line of data is latched in the memory elements. Thereafter, a heat signal HEAT is outputted from a delay circuit 454 with a little delay from the latch signal LATCH. A pulse ENB is outputted from a delay pulse generation circuit 456 with a little delay from a change timing of information TIME. When the enable signal ENB goes high, the output of a gate 91 goes low, and the memory elements 101 are reset. As a result, a transistor 111 is turned OFF, and the electric conduction to the heating elements 121 is brought to a stop. |
