PURPOSE:To prevent the change in the property values of a solid electrolyte with the lapse of time and to stabilize the performance, such as sensitivity, by using a perfluorosulfonate polymer as the solid electrolyte layer and forming this layer on the surface of a porous substrate. CONSTITUTION:The solid electrolyte layer 50 consisting of the perfluorosulfonate polymer is formed on the surface of the porous substrate 10 consisting of a porous alumina substrate, etc., and respective electrodes including a working electrode 20, a counter electrode 30 and a reference electrode 40 are embedded in the electrolyte layer 50 in the positions apart from the surface of the substrate 10. The working electrode 20 and the counter electrode 30 are formed of platinum and the reference electrode 40 is formed of gold. The electrolyte layer 50 is always maintained in a specified high moisture content state if one surface of the electrolyte layer 50 is in contact with water in a water storage part 80 and, therefore, the generation of the degradation in the property values with the lapse of time is obviated. Since the opposite surface of the electrolyte layer 50 is open to the outside vial the substrate 10, the gaseous components, etc., of the outside world can easily arrive at the electrolyte layer 50 through the substrate 10. The sticking of dirt and foreign matter on the surface of the electrolyte layer 50 is prevented. |
