PURPOSE:To obtain propylene by carrying out dehydration of isopropanol while successively heating a reaction mixture using a heat insulation type reactor having plural heating parts and solid catalyst layer alternately arranged along a passing-through direction of the reaction mixture. CONSTITUTION:For example, isopropanol is dehydrated using heat insulation type reactors 1, 2 and 3 where heating parts 11, 21 and 31 are provided in each inlet of the reactors, respectively. Globular type, tablet type or extrusion type gamma-alumina is preferably used as a catalyst. Temperature and LHSV value in the each reactor are set, e.g. at 350-450 deg.C and 1-30hr<-1> in the first stage, at 300-450 deg.C and 1-30hr<-1> in the second stage and at 250-450 deg.C and 0.1-15hr<-1> in the third stage, preferably so as to be the conversion rate of isopropanol in the each reaction tube may become all about 100% and to nearly equalize the conversion rate of isopropanol in the divided each catalyst layer. |
