PURPOSE:To improve productivity with an effective use of materials by a method wherein an arbitrary replacement of a number of stirring teeth held vertically by a stirring arm is made possible at hot stage without interrupting the operation of a furnace and the replacement operation is completed by only replacing the end part of each stirring tooth. CONSTITUTION:A furnace body 11 is provided in its interior with hearths 14 having central openings and arranged in a multiple tiers and with a work opening 16 at a part thereof corresponding to each hearth 14. A stirring arm 31 is extended in all directions over each hearth 14 from a rotary shaft 21 and a number of stirring teeth 45 is fitted into the slits 33 formed in the underside of each arm 31 in such manner they are directed vertically toward the surface of the hearth 14. There is also provided a stirring assembly 41 which has an attaching piece 44 on the upper surface of a base plate 42 and stirring teeth 55 detachably attached to an attaching plate 43 vertically extending downwardly. The stirring assembly 41 is secured in place by inserting a fixing wedge-shaped rod 51 into an attaching hole at the end part of the arm 31 with the attaching piece 44 detachably fitted into the slit 33 thereof. |
