A vapour recovery system for a fuel filling installation in which the submerged end (15') of the discharge pipe (15) from the variable speed positive displacement pump (10) is connected to a closed tube (16) which extends along the bottom of said underground tank (2) and has a porosity (20-22) such as to generate very small bubbles from the recovered air-vapour mixture, the vent pipe (25) of the underground tank (2) having a large cross-section and being provided with baffles (26) in its interior; particular embodiments are also provided.
