The invention relates to a modular display cabinet intended for commercial use for supporting a series of stacked shelves on which the products are laid out for sale. The modular display cabinet comprises, as a minimum, a number of section-type uprights (4) to which shelves (5) are attached. According to the invention, the uprights (4) comprise an internal source of light which cooperates with apertures let into said uprights (4) in order partly to illuminate the products laid out on the shelves (5) and partly to create an eye-catching glow (7) around the external parts of the uprights (4).
