The head is intended for mounting components on the surface of a support and has rotary angle position adjuster and a tool for lifting and lowering the components. The tool (3) is fitted on a rotary shaft, driven by a brushless d.c. motor (9). The latter rotor (7) on the shaft is axially offset from the magnetic centre (23) of the motor stator (8). A magnetic coil (11) surrounds the shaft and a magnetic core on the shaft, spaced from a magnetic stop (22). The coil exerts a force on the magnetic core opposite to that of the permanent magnetic rotor. The angular position of the shaft is measured by an electric rotation detector (19), transmitting a signal to a control (20). ADVANTAGE - Defined axial force, acting on component provided by d.c. motor and electromagnet.
