Correct positioning device for contact pins - measures deviation of pin from target aperture and compensates using reference surface on base plate

A device, defining the positioning of contact pins of an electronic component, comprises a perforated plate (5), mounted on a measuring head, provided with apertures (6) for receiving the contact pins (2). The plate (5) is movably mounted on a ground plate (3) of the measuring head. This is provided with sensors (4) which measure the sideways movement of the plate (5) which results when the tips of the pins (2) deviate from their target aperture. The amount of deviation is conveyed to a handling robot which performs a corresp. compensative position correction when mounting the component on a circuit board. USE/ADVANTAGE - Increases efficiency and reliability of mounting components properly onto circuit board. Reduces risk of damage by bending or breaking legs of component due to missing hole.
