PURPOSE:To achieve a system using a facsimile input device which can give a retrieval code to an arbitrary position, by displaying a bar code to a position representing the item on an inputted sentence and interpreting the retrieval code from an electric signal converted from the bar code. CONSTITUTION:Bar codes 20 are displayed at a location representing items on a sentence to form an input sentence 4, this sentence is converted into an electric signal together with the bar codes 20, the bar codes 20 are detected from a converted electric signal, the designated numeral is identified, a specified retrieval code is interpreted and sentences and items are retrieved. For example, name of a drug on a statement of the virtues of a drug 4 or retrieval code representing each item are all represented with the bar codes 20 and printed on the document. After an input document 4 is converted into an electric signal with a facsimile input device 1, the bar code is detected with a bar code detector 2, numerals are discriminated and inputted to an information storage/retrieval device 3 with a video information. |
