摘要 The pressure wave changer for an i.c. engine is operated such that charge air is delivered via a high pressure passage and supplied with high pressure exhaust gas from the engine, while a branch passage delivers part of the exhaust gas to a gas pocket. When the engine is stopped, or used in an emergency, the inlet (50) to the gas pocket (12) is held fully open by a spring, and kept open during starting, idling, or at low load. As the load increases, it is steadily shut by a first pneumatic system, which shuts it completely under part-load, faster idling speed, and lower to half speed at full load. A second pneumatic system opens it in the top part of the part-load range and in the full load speed range. ADVANTAGE - No exhaust gas losses.
