The auxiliary exposure light unit, esp. for a video or cine camera, contains a light source and associated circuit and a foot for connecting to the hot shoe of the camera. At least one continuous light source as well as at least one flash light source are mounted in the housing (10) of the unit and assigned to a common exposure field window (14). Pref., the flash source is installed between two continuous light sources. Pref. a photosensor is installed in the window as part part of an electric control circuit controlling exposure according to the reflected light. The circuit housing (11) is fixed to the foot (25). The section (12) contg. the light sources can be releasably connected to this housing (11), contact elements (23, 24) being provided on their coupling sides (13).
