A heat-resistant ball bearing comprises inner and outer races made of a heat-resistant steel, a plurality of balls made of a ceramic, and a crown retainer made of graphite. Preferably, the retainer has a crown shape and comprises a plurality of projections forming a pocket and a cut-away portion connected the pocket, the pocket stores a ball. The width of the cut-away portion is selected to be about 97 to 99% of the diameter of the ball.
