PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, comprising 4-hydroxyanisole and a retinoid as active ingredients in a pharmaceutically permissible topical vehicle without containing a corticosteroid, causing reduced irritation to skin and capable of causing the synergistic depigmentation. CONSTITUTION: This synergistic skin depigmentation composition comprises 4-hydroxyanisole and a retinoid as active ingredients in a pharmaceutically permissible topical vehicle without containing a corticosteroid. The especially preferred composition comprises 1-2wt.% 4-hydroxyanisole and 0.01-0.1wt.% retinoid, e.g. all-trans retinoic acid, 11-cis, 13-cis-12-hydroxymethylretinoic acidδ-lactone or (N-acetyl-4-aminophenyl) retinoate. Furthermore, a cream, a gel, an ointment, a powder, etc., are cited as the pharmaceutically permissible topical vehicle mixed with the active ingredients. |
