PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a rotating machine by providing a plurality of means having one ends secured to a stator and the other ends telescopable in the direction of the rotor in order to hold the rotor in the center, and a rotary driving means having one end secured to the stator and the other end telescopable to bend the rotor holding means. CONSTITUTION:One end of a rod support 14 is secured to a plurality (six in the drawing) of stators 12 and the other end thereof is secured with a micro motion actuator 15, e.g. a piezoelectric element, expandable/contractable in the direction of a rotor thus holding the rotary shaft 11 in the center of rotation. One end of a micro motion actuator 16 for driving rotation crossing perpendicularly with the actuator 15 is secured to the stator 12 and the other expandable/ contractable end is brought into contact with the actuator 15 thus bending the actuator 15 and causing micro motion of the rotary shaft 11 in the rotary direction. The actuators 15, 16 are alternately classified into unit A and unit B, each comprising three pieces, and then they are energized with reverse phase such that one unit is in rotary mode when the other is in reset mode. By such arrangement, the size is reduced and brake can be applied easily upon interruption of power supply. |
