[Also in Division H1] A polyethylene terephthalate or like film is bonded to a cathode-ray tube by softening it by infra-red heating while clamped over a chamber containing the tube, and applying it to the latter by suction within, or excess pressure outside, the chamber. Epoxy resin adhesive may be applied to the tube before or during the bonding operation. The film margins may be clamped around the tube by a steel or nylon strip and the surplus material trimmed away. |
