PURPOSE:To obtain the vital organ expander which can be easily removed from the vital organ and can be easily corrected in position within the vital organ by using a shape memory material which is changed in shape only from the shape at the time of expansion of the vital organ only to the stored shape smaller than this shape by a temp. change. CONSTITUTION:A catheter body 2 is first inserted into the blood vessel or trachea 20 to position a 2nd balloon 4 in a prosthetic material 8 when the prosthetic material 8 deviates from a constricted part 21 and the purpose to expand the constricted part is not attained. Air is then sent to a 1st balloon 3 to inflate the 1st balloon 3, by which the blood vessel or trachea 20 is closed in front of the constricted part and the prosthetic material is fixed to the blood vessel or trachea 20. Hot water 18 is then supplied from an aperture 5 into the blood vessel or trachea 20 and the prosthetic material 8 is heated up to the transition temp. or above. The prosthetic material 8 is then shrunk to restore the original shape and is engaged with the 2nd balloon 4. The air 16 is discharged to shrink the 1st balloon 3 to the original shape. The catheter body 2 is removed as it is together with the prosthetic material 8 from the blood vessel or trachea 20 at the time of removing the prosthetic material 8. The treatment is made again. |
