PURPOSE:To improve traveling stability and traveling durability by constituting the medium of a nonmagnetic supporting body and a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder formed on the supporting body, and by providing lots of specified pores in the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The medium consists of a nonmagnetic supporting body, and a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder formed on the supporting body. The magnetic layer contains lots of pores by <=0.1ml per a unit weight (g) of the magnetic layer, having the average aperture size <=100Angstrom and the average inner diameter larger than the average aperture size by >=50Angstrom . By this constitution, the obtd. medium has excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics especially in high-density recording (short wavelength recording) and improved traveling stability and traveling durability, especially traveling durability at low temp. and low humidity. |
